Frequently Asked Questions About LASIK

What is LASIK Eye Surgery?
LASIK is a type of refractive surgery of the eye that involves reshaping of the cornea, so that light is correctly focused on the retina. It is also known to some as laser eye surgery and laser vision correction for astigmatism, hyperopia and myopia. This innovative surgery is done by an ophthalmologist, or an eye surgeon who reshapes the cornea in such a way that the clear part in front of your eyes properly transmits the light to your retina...Read More »
How Much Does LASIK Surgery Cost?
The cost of LASIK eye surgery usually ranges anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000 per eye. However, the average price for LASIK surgery in the U.S. was $2,632 per eye in 2020, according to a 2021 report in Clinical Ophthalmology...Read More »
What is the recovery time after a LASIK procedure?
LASIK recovery time greatly varies from person to person, but a high percentage of individuals will begin to see and notice the improvements after 2 days of having the LASIK surgery. The average length of recovery time (the time needed to get good vision) is approximately two to seven days, and with the proper eye care and maintenance, a full LASIK recovery can extend up to 6 months in total...Read More »
Is LASIK Surgery safe?
When performed properly, LASIK surgery is incredibly safe. As a matter of fact, not only LASIK surgeries have a very high success rate, but they also come with almost no complications that will threaten your sight. Eye infections are practically non-existent, since the corneal flap is strong enough to act as a natural bandage. The most common risk you’re facing is that your vision might not be completely corrected, but it’s fairly negligible and happens in less than one percent of cases...Read More »
Will LASIK work for me?
LASIK surgery provides a great, and often permanent alternative to people who rely on contact lenses or eye glasses to see their way through the world. LASIK is best for individuals suffering from nearsightedness (nearby objects can be seen clearly, while far objects are a blur), farsightedness (opposite of nearsightedness) and astigmatism, where near and far objects cannot be seen clearly...Read More »
